Congratulations to Dr. Sonja Brookins Santelises of Baltimore City Public Schools for Being Named 2026 Maryland Superintendent of the Year

The superintendents of the Eastern Shore school districts would like to congratulate Dr. Sonja Brookins Santelises, Chief Executive Officer of Baltimore City Public Schools, for being named the 2026 Maryland Superintendent of the Year by the Public School Superintendents’ Association of Maryland (PSSAM).

“Dr. Santelises exemplifies the bold, visionary leadership that drives real change for students,” said Dr. Carey Wright, State Superintendent of Schools. “Her deep commitment to equity with a strategic focus on student achievement make Dr. Santelises an extraordinary leader.”
